Members of the University and College Union are taking strike action today to defend their right to a fair pension.

Lecturers will be striking all over the country at 500 colleges and universities. It is the UCU’s first strike action in Universities for 5 years.

UCU members are walking out over plans for greater pension contributions from staff and an increase in the pension age, against a backdrop of a second consecutive annual pay cut.

We sent Ben Rebuck to see Steve Miller, branch secretary of the University and College Union, UCA branch, on the picket lines.
